It’s over. I really don’t know what to do with myself now. I have driven back and forth to Birmingham Fashion Week for 5 days straight! I saw amazing retailers, designers, and emerging designers on the runway. I even met the sweetest bloggers too! I had the absolute best time and I’m so glad I had this opportunity to not only go to BFW, but also be in the media pit!
Okay…now, I lied when I said I don’t know what to do with myself. I know what I need to be doing (studying for my 2 exams) so I can pack up my favorite things and head home to the sunshine state for the summer but we all know blogging is better.
I won’t be doing any more post until I get home this weekend…so keep up with me on Instagram!
Here’s my not so quick recap from Birmingham Fashion Week Day 3. The show opened up with LEONA by Lauren Leonard, a designer who makes timeless pieces for your average southern gal. My favorite look from her collection was her Sophie top and Sussie shorts! Than, it was time for the 15 Rising Design Stars brought to you by Buffalo Rock Company where young designers used a hands on everything but cloth approach to their designs. All of these kids were under the age of 18..some even being 12! My mind was blown! I had two favorites: Bradford Billingsley, who made a gorgeous red gown and Ella Kate Dewees, who made a dress out of tiny cocktail umbrellas!
Next up was local retailers: the Pants Store and Monkee’s of Mountain Brook! I love these retailers and they certainly knew how to rock the runway. The Pants Store in Tuscaloosa is a place that I can run into quickly and buy a new top or dress- they always having something great. Plus, they carry Antelopes- my favorite wedges…I’m not lying when I say I can wear them all day long without my feet or back aching! They also carry men’s and kids wear for amazing prices! Monkee’s of Mountain Brook had a stunning white top and skirt that I am dying to get my hands on! Monkee’s is a franchise boutique all throughout the south!
Drum roll please…Project Runway superstars Jonathan Kayne, Joshua Mckinley and Anthony Ryan Auld were next. Jonathan and Joshua were all things that glittered and made you look and feel beautiful! They had some of the most captivating gowns I have EVER seen! It made me want to go to my highschool prom all over again..or at least made me wish I had worn one of their gowns when I went to Birmingham’s Krewe Ball back in February! Anthony had a stunning long dress that I loved and also showed his more moderate priced line called ANT. He had a classic envelope skort and a fabulous poncho that I could totally see myself in!
I can’t wait for tonight now..I swear y’all…it just keeps getting better!
More photos will be posted to my facebook page later on!
2 nights left of BFW, 2 exams and 1 research paper away from summertime for this girl!
Birmingham Fashion Week Day 3, I’m telling y’all it just keeps getting better and I’m not lying…wait until you see my post tomorrow! Tonight the runway went from boutique wear to formal wear! It was another jaw dropping evening and I’m even more excited for tomorrow!
Last night the runway hosted top fitness and outdoor retailers like Pure Barre, Lululemon Athletica and Mountain High Outfitters! It was all about Lifestyle (MIND, BODY, AND SOUL) and if you are a close friend of mine you’ve known that I just started doing Pure Barre in January and I’m addicted to it so I was really excited for this show! All of the models were BEYOND fit including the young models! I saw skateboards, backflips, yoga, and even a paddle board! They had Pure Barre instructors on stage doing Pure Barre exercises while the models walked down the runway! I was in awe (understand why I couldn’t pick up my jaw now?) Not to mention, there was also a pet fashion show too! I even met some fellow Birmingham bloggers!
Birmingham Fashion Week Day 2 complete and I think it may have been my favorite night so far even though it was only the 2nd day! I could hardly keep my mouth shut and you’ll find out soon in my next post…We also popped in to Cantina for a margarita and some queso while we were waiting around for the show to start! They had an amazing atmosphere, which I am a sucker for and delicious drinks!
Tonight was the first night of Birmingham’s Fashion Week and I LOVED it! After I finished with interviews (details in the next post) my sidekick Leila and I went into a precious coffee shop called The Red Cat Coffee House to charge our batteries and get an Iced Chai Tea Latte. Plus, we are both cat lovers so we couldn’t not go inside! Afterward, the Birmingham Fashion Truck was right outside BFW..so naturally we had to stop in. The Birmingham Fashion Truck is a boutique on wheels that travels to different spots around town daily! Sounds ideal if you ask me..and it was absolutely adorable!
My favorite looks and more details about the show will be posted later so be on the look out!

With summer being just around the corner (11 days to be exact) for me, I figured it was time to start my hunt for the perfect summer sandal. In Florida, we wear sandals year round for the most part so getting new sandals for summer was never a big deal to me. But after having a long cold winter up in Alabama I decided I was in a dire need for a few new pairs to brighten my mood and show off my summer pedicure!
