I’ve lived in NYC for 3 weeks now…yah that’s a long damn time for a small town gal like me. I’m having a love/hate relationship with this city…mainly hating all the homeless people, guys who don’t hold doors open, slow walkers, lack of a/c, smelly subway, how much walking you actually have to do to get somewhere (I walk 10 miles a day y’all..that’s a lot). I also hate how expensive everything is…like $15 for a meal and $20 for a drink. You can’t even get drunk off at $20 drink. It also baffles me that theres a guy on the street that asks me for money EVERYDAY while I walk to work as he smokes a cigarette. I swear one day I’m going to lose it on him and tell him “If you can afford to smoke a cigarette than you don’t need my money” or something like that. I have this sh*t planned out y’all. Not to mention the hotel prices are outrageous…trying to find a semi decent hotel for Matt and I when he comes to visit and the prices are $300 and up for something just okay. Oh and where I live…don’t even get me started on that!
What I LOVE though (I know it’s shocking I could love something…) is the amount of exploring I get to do and how many endless options of things there are to do in the city. A lot of things are pretty convenient for the most part or so I think they are from where I’m living. Plus, there’s fun things and events going on ALL the time and even though the food is expensive and so are the drinks…there are so many cool restaurants to go to. Next to where I’m working there is a Bite Beauty Bar and you can make your own lipstick! I’m literally doing it next week. Y’all know how much I love my lipstick! AND there’s a Birchbox Store where you can make your own Birchbox…like what!
I have my ups and downs with the city though. I don’t hate it but I don’t love it. I think I just like it and am trying to embrace the opportunity that I was given to come live here for 4 months. But boy do I miss Alabama more than anything in this world and I’m so excited to go back there tonight for a weekend trip. It’s been so weird for me knowing that I’ll never be a college student ever again. It’s sad…people aren’t kidding when they say it goes by quickly! I never thought I’d admit to missing Alabama more than I miss home but I miss Alabama a hell of a lot. People in NYC don’t have manners like they do in Alabama…and on that note I will end my rant!
Hope everyone has a great weekend…oh and ROLL TIDE!
This throw is great y’all! Unity Alley Boutique Comforts is all about comfort…obviously it says it in the name! Based in New Jersey these beautiful USA made organic and recycled cotton throws run for $125! These throws are also machine washable. I have the Interlocking Octagons in Navy to match my bedroom. It literally goes perfectly with my room y’all!

Also, they make the perfect beach blanket or if you want to lay out and watch the stars one night by a fire…having them machine washable makes it easy for dual use!
I wasn’t kidding in my instagram when I said I’ll be in this romper all summer long…and the sandals too. This romper is going to be perfect for going out or even wearing as a beach cover up…and the sandals. I’ll probably wear them out in a month because I will wear them nonstop. Plus, they are $125 and SO CUTE. I’m deciding on if I should get the pair in black too!
Be sure to check out the Wednesday link up below!!
I was born to shop. Can you blame me? Nothing like a low key sweatshirt like this to spruce up an outfit. Plus, who doesn’t get a kick out of this? I’ve gotten so many comments from just wearing this around town. Great to throw on and do some errands in. I also love these railroad stripped jeans from J.Crew Factory they are so soft and perfect for the summer time.
Well y’all, New York was a great time but I’m worn out. And by worn out I mean absolutely EXHAUSTED..like I need a full body massage and a weeks vacation of laying in my bed. I bought a new pair of Nike’s because my feet were aching by the 3rd day from walking 6 miles a day. This trip definitely prepared me for when I move to NYC in August but boy am I grateful to be headed to Florida right now! I’m actually in the airport as we speak doing some people watching!
Hope everyone had a great week!
(I apologize for my green socks..but hey! they match my bag)
Someone please tell me where the time has gone? I can’t believe it’s already for spring time! Don’t get me wrong I’m so excited for spring I just can’t believe how quickly time has flown by..even in my college career! I’m so excited I finally got to pull down my white jeans from the top shelf of my closet. So consider this my first white jeans post of the year!
It has been so miserably cold in Alabama the last few weeks that all I’ve wanted to wear is black and nothing else. It makes me think about how I’m going to survive New York City in the fall when it gets even colder up there. Yikes! And NOW, it’s finally warm out but it’s pouring rain. I wish the weather would just make up it’s mind..because I just want sunny and 75!
Any who, I’m headed to NYC on Sunday for my interviews. Anybody have any tips or tricks and the where to’s I should hit up in the big city?
Some people prefer to follow my instagram account rather than following and subscribing to my blog so it gives those people the opportunity to shop my looks easily! Also, sometimes I don’t get to respond to outfit questions as quickly because I’m busy (believe it or not I’m not ALWAYS staring at my phone). This service allows instagram users to get exact outfit details almost instantly sent to their inbox if they are signed up with the service! Lastly, it is a way for bloggers to make money! I am part of rewardStyle, which is a commission based affiliate program where you earn a small commison when items are purchased from your website using a special link. It’s a win, win situation because y’all get your outfit details instantly and I earn a small profit to put towards keeping up with Shotguns & Seashells
Y’all Alabama has been SO cold! It snowed Wednesday night but of course all the snow disappeared in the morning! All I wanted to do was take cute pictures in it, but I didn’t get the chance. Anyway, we are suppose to have decent weather this week so I’m excited to get the chance to put on shorts when I walk to class! (Yup, it’s come down to looking forward to that).
