This Thanksgiving I’m not going home. It’s hard to believe that I’m not for the first time in 4 years. It has honestly sucked getting to see all of my friends posting pictures and snapchatting being back home while I’m stuck in New York City. Granted though, I grew up missing every holiday because I was showing horses. But even then, I was with my horse show family. This year just seems extra hard. Instead of dwelling on it…I decided to make a list of things I’m thankful for. Something I want to continue to add to as I grow older.
ONE: I’m thankful for my future job. Whatever that might be. But thank you in advance for hiring me and helping me get started on my own and onto a new journey of life.
TWO: I’m thankful for my family. For raising me and teaching me how to a lady. For loving me through thick and thin. To my Mom who never lost her patience when I was what she would call “meaner than a snake” growing up and being my fashionista insipiration. To my Dad who continues to support my dreams and shows me what being a hard worker is all about. To my Brother who has put up with my chaos for 23 years and I’m so grateful to finally be growing a bond with after all these years.
THREE. I’m thankful for being given the opportunity to get an education. The University of Alabama for being my home for 4 years and getting my Fashion Retail degree (in 3 weeks). For attending a small private school for 14 years before college that helped me prepare for greater things.
FOUR. I’m thankful for getting to experience 4 months of living in New York City. I’m thankful for my parents for spending A LOT of money on me to live here and complete an internship in order to graduate. The friendships I’ve made here and the exploring I’ve done. And a dollar does not go a long way in New York City. Living here has only made me grow as a person and more grateful for what I have…and eager to get back to Florida.
FIVE. I’m thankful for being granted the opportunity to move back to my hometown and into my OWN house in the next month. (I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am about this). Follow my Pinterest Board to see my decorating ideas.
SIX. I’m thankful for horses…especially Scout. For teaching me what it’s like to love and be passionate about something. Showing me drive and determination to always do my best and excel. For teaching me what a bond truly is and that blood, sweat and tears all pay off in the long run. For teaching me how to care for a creature as amazing as you…(hopefully Mom or Nikki reads this to you)
SEVEN. I’m thankful for my friends. My high school friends, college friends and horse friends. For the friends I’ve lost and the friends I’ve gained. The ones who have knocked sense back into me but at the same time lost all sense with me. Y’all know who you are. And Matt Moor…for being my rock for 4.5 years.
EIGHT. I’m thankful for Shotguns & Seashells. For having all of Y’ALL (my readers) for being such great support systems and always giving me feedback and for continuing to follow along with me as I’ve conquered style in Alabama, New York and Florida as I officially move back to my roots!
Believe it or not this was my 2nd outfit post EVER on instagram. Oh has my style evolved, oh how I’ve grown and oh how my hair has changed!
I hope y’all have a great Thanksgiving and stay warm!
