With 2014 quickly coming to an end I can’t help but smile at such a great year I’ve had with Shotguns & Seashells! I appreciate all of the love and support that all of my readers have given me..without y’all I wouldn’t be able to do it. I can’t wait to see what 2015 has to offer and to watch Shotguns & Seashells grow more!
Okay…….I have been slacking off with posting but I have been so busy and I seriously just needed some away time from the computer. But don’t worry I’m back and ready to go! I hope y’all aren’t too stressed preparing for the holidays so I’ll keep this short!
Whether you need to get a hostess gift, a gift certificate or an outfit for a holiday party Sassy Boutique has got you covered. Sassy Boutique and I teamed up to bring you some of our favorite gifts for this holiday at all different prices. They have a great variety of items starting from Go Vino glasses, cashmere sweaters, tassel necklaces, and coffee table books!
Just in time for Christmas I’ve teamed up with Kendra Scott at The Summit in Birmingham to giveaway the gorgeous and celebrity favorite, Naomi Ring. Plus, it’s a huge blogger favorite too. I can’t even count the amount of bloggers that I have seen wearing it including myself! You can’t forget the perfect nail polishes to go with the ring so I have added in 2 festive Essie nail polishes too!
All you have to do is register with LikeToKnow.IT and go to Instagram and like the photo and then comment on the photo saying that you did it and tag a friend. No reposting photos..just simple stuff!!
What’s your favorite country song? One of my all time favorites is Remind Me by Brad Paisley feauturing Carrie Underwood (hence the tee). I absolutely love that song and when I saw License To Boot post this shirt on their instagram I knew that I HAD to have it. Something about this shirt just makes me so happy 🙂
On Saturday, I made a trip to Birmingham with Parker the writer of Fast Foodie US who also happens to be one of my best friends and sorority sisters for the Birmingham Bloggers brunch! The brunch was hosted at The Nest in historic Avondale, an adorable little spot if you ever want to host a party. I got to see some old friends and make new ones. Of course, we talked about blogging and more blogging but what we learned about was how to photograph food (I’ll share the tips soon). Y’all I had so much fun, I wish y’all could of been there! So, photographing food..how hard can it be.Y’ALL!.I was terrible at it…I’m honestly going to leave the creative food photos to the foodies and stick to fashion. However, it was really fun to learn all about it. Rachel Johnson of StupidGoodRachel, who is a professional food photographer taught us the secret tips. If you check out her blog you’ll see that she has it down pat. I was impressed..I had no idea that there was an art to photographing food. Even though we weren’t all food bloggers at the brunch we still learned how to incorporate these tips (they’re coming I promise) with styling clothes and jewelry. So, that has given me a ton of ideas for new posts…I’m really not the most creative person but I do try so I get an A+ for effort, right?
Ready for the tips???
1. embrace natural lighting
2. shoot from above
3. you can always add on to something, so don’t over do it. i.e don’t overdose on the granola like I did…hence why you don’t see my photo of the yogurt bowl on here…
4. keep it simple when it comes to filters and editing and don’t photograph against a busy surface
5. use #hashtags. if you are a food instagrammer try using the hashtags #f52grams and #eeeeeats. Rachel also suggested to post early in the morning around 8am and at night around 7pm
Anymore questions? You know where to leave the comment 🙂
(of course the sequin top and skirt are already sold out on H&M but don’t worry because I found similar matches)
With the holidays FINALLY here and in full gear it’s time to dress festive! Sequins are always a holiday staple during this time of the year and one of my favorites. I ordered this ever so adorable multi colored two piece sequin outfit from H&M for this years holiday festivities! When it comes to sequins I think that you can either go all out and be dressed head to toe in sequins like look two or you can split the sequins up. Look one was an inspiration for a more mature woman but I LOVE it and look three is a more young and fun look that I’ll probably wear for New Years. I love look one because it’s not something I would normally put myself in and I had fun going out of my comfort zone. I’m usually not one for a pencil skirt that goes over your knees but I do see myself wearing this to a Christmas party with adults. Look three is a total Chandler look, I love a faux leather skirt and booties, add sequins and I’m ready to go!
If you’re a techy person or you have to shop for a person who loves techy stuff heres what you need to get. And if you’re a blogger or big into photography and have a DSLR…this Eye-Fi card is a MUST. Without it, I am nothing. It automatically puts all of the photos from your camera to your cellphone….AMAZING. People are always shocked when I tell them about it. It’s the best thing thats ever happened to me y’all!
