Here’s my not so quick recap from Birmingham Fashion Week Day 3. The show opened up with LEONA by Lauren Leonard, a designer who makes timeless pieces for your average southern gal. My favorite look from her collection was her Sophie top and Sussie shorts! Than, it was time for the 15 Rising Design Stars brought to you by Buffalo Rock Company where young designers used a hands on everything but cloth approach to their designs. All of these kids were under the age of 18..some even being 12! My mind was blown! I had two favorites: Bradford Billingsley, who made a gorgeous red gown and Ella Kate Dewees, who made a dress out of tiny cocktail umbrellas!
Next up was local retailers: the Pants Store and Monkee’s of Mountain Brook! I love these retailers and they certainly knew how to rock the runway. The Pants Store in Tuscaloosa is a place that I can run into quickly and buy a new top or dress- they always having something great. Plus, they carry Antelopes- my favorite wedges…I’m not lying when I say I can wear them all day long without my feet or back aching! They also carry men’s and kids wear for amazing prices! Monkee’s of Mountain Brook had a stunning white top and skirt that I am dying to get my hands on! Monkee’s is a franchise boutique all throughout the south!
Drum roll please…Project Runway superstars Jonathan Kayne, Joshua Mckinley and Anthony Ryan Auld were next. Jonathan and Joshua were all things that glittered and made you look and feel beautiful! They had some of the most captivating gowns I have EVER seen! It made me want to go to my highschool prom all over again..or at least made me wish I had worn one of their gowns when I went to Birmingham’s Krewe Ball back in February! Anthony had a stunning long dress that I loved and also showed his more moderate priced line called ANT. He had a classic envelope skort and a fabulous poncho that I could totally see myself in!
I can’t wait for tonight now..I swear y’all…it just keeps getting better!
More photos will be posted to my facebook page later on!
